Some background

I started piano lessons when I was four years old. After studying classical for ten years, I started exploring new genres: video game and orchestral soundtracks, and jazz. In highschool, I played in as many bands as I could (jazz, concert, and pit orchestra). Around this time, I started focusing on jazz and began lessons with the renowned Canadian jazz pianist Steve Holt. A few friends and I formed a band called LMJC, and performed weekly gigs at a restaurant called Hot Belly Mama's. We toured venues such as Trent University, Long and McQuade music stores, Mercedes-Benz, and various pubs in Peterborough, Ontario. During the Terry Fox Campaign in 2017, our band campaigned to raise money for cancer research.

As part of the Skule™ engineering community at UofT, I have been both a member and director for Stage Band Blue, a 10-member combo focused on performing jazz standards while developing musicianship. It was a blast organizing weekly practices and gigs. I have also sat in for gigs with Stage Band Gold and its big-band style jazz.

In second year, I explored playing more RnB, Funk and Soul with the Skule™ Jazz Combo, and I played more traditional jazz with the Hart House Jazz Combo.

In my third and fourth years, I took directorship of the Skule™ Jazz Combo, and I began a Music Performance Minor in Jazz Piano. The Skule™ Jazz site is here, jazz.skule.ca!
